Today FHIR Infrastructure voted on task GF#10121.We decided to remove CapabilityStatement.messaging.event and replace it with a reference to MessageDefinition. We also agreed to a 2 week period of call for comment from the community so anyone using CapabilityStatement.messaging.event can object. Feel free to do that here on the FHIR mail list

Note that the replacement already exists in the spec - we currently have two ways of doing the same thing - the old way and the new way. This proposal is to get rid of the old way.
