What is Cerners position on STU3?
Michele Mottini (Apr 09 2019 at 08:22):
I guess that they are skipping it
Kevin Mayfield (Apr 09 2019 at 08:32):
So next question, can you use converters to do R4->STU3 :)
Michele Mottini (Apr 09 2019 at 09:12):
No idea
Grahame Grieve (Apr 09 2019 at 11:38):
that depends
Grahame Grieve (Apr 09 2019 at 11:39):
what are you trying to use them for?
Kevin Mayfield (Apr 09 2019 at 13:07):
To put a STU3 facade in front of cerner. (or more likely put a facade in front of DSTU2 version). Theoretical question at present but UK has a number of Cerner installs.
Jenni Syed (Apr 09 2019 at 13:20):
Correct, at this time, Cerner is planning on skipping STU3
Iryna Roy (Apr 09 2019 at 15:07):
Will Cerner implement R4?
Dennis Patterson (Apr 09 2019 at 15:12):
Yes, this thread was started to discuss https://chat.fhir.org/#narrow/stream/179240-Announcements/topic/Cerner.20Initial.20R4.20Implementation/near/161986308

it is possible to put a facade of one version in front of another version. There are a number of disparate issues to address:
- conversion of content between versions - you'll need bi-directional transforms, and the ones that exists are of variable quality. But they do exist, and good testing will be needed
- renaming of resources (particularly Conformance->CapabilityStatement) and search parameters between versions. We do not publish a map of search parameters between versions, though it's possible that we could - but the semantics can change subtly
- changing mime types between R2 and R3
- additional features made available in later versions - .e.g operations
