Topic: W5 order of elements
John Moehrke (Jan 27 2017 at 18:20):
Is it possible for a committee to decide against the WARNING on w5 ordering of elements? @Grahame Grieve @Lloyd McKenzie That is to say that they have good reason for the order of elements regarding usability, and that re-ordering to the current w5 arbitrary order would make the Resource odd.
Lloyd McKenzie (Jan 27 2017 at 19:47):
You're free to ask for an exception for any reason. MnM will consider your arguments and the impact of the inconsistency. If you don't agree with the MnM outcome, you can appeal to the FMG, then FGB. I'd expect MnM to be reasonable.
John Moehrke (Jan 27 2017 at 20:58):
did they change the W5 order? I thought I had adjusted to the W5 order back at DSTU2... now it seems I need to adjust all my resources again...
Lloyd McKenzie (Jan 28 2017 at 03:47):
I'm not aware of a change . . .
Grahame Grieve (Feb 06 2017 at 02:35):
I don't think we've changed the W5 order for a long time - would hate to think about changing it. But sometimes the element binding to W5 changes.
Cooper Thompson (Feb 17 2017 at 19:02):
Is there any good documentation on the purpose and notation for W5? I'd found the w5.html page and a few powerpoints and spreadsheets scattered across the HL7.org site, but nothing that looks like it describes the full W5 notation. I think I have most of what I need from examples from other resources, but it'd be nice to see the full structure, as well as understand why exactly we need those mappings.
Cooper Thompson (Feb 17 2017 at 19:04):
Ok - and just seconds after posting that question, I found w5.ini. I assume that is the full structure. I'm still not clear on the purpose behind the mappings.
Grahame Grieve (Feb 17 2017 at 19:05):
it is about driving consistency in the FHIR resources. w5 = the 5 ws: who what when where why
Grahame Grieve (Feb 17 2017 at 19:05):
it would be good to have a formal write up of what is going on
