Topic: Usage Statistics

view this post on Zulip Bryn Rhodes (Jul 17 2018 at 19:24):

Are there any usage statistics gathered for any of the content published to build.fhir.org? Or is that something that would have to have been included in the IG in order to be tracked?

Bryn, what usage statistics are you looking for? sorry to answer late, just getting settled

Trying to find out if there's a way to tell how many people have looked at a given IG, and ideally how many have actually downloaded the igpack

Suggestion: perhaps the published spec can start using Google Analytics... and then at least Grahame and some chosen few can view those statistics live, and perhaps publish summaries in the monthly FHIR Foundation reports. Just a thought.

perhaps. but I don't want to buy into gdpr problems in the spec itself

IANAL, but you can turn IP address anonymization on in Google Analytics so that you aren't tracking individuals... and since the spec doesn't have user sessions, you aren't tracking any other user data other than an anonymized IP address. I think it works.

Over what time interval?
Pretty interesting. Hoping that bots aren't in that count.

I don't know whether that includes bots. @David Johnson

view this post on Zulip David Johnson (Jan 03 2020 at 16:20):

That should be stripping bots.
