GF#11088 - I'm reading the proposed disposition, and I'm not entirely sure I folllow it. @Josh Mandel @Ewout Kramer: what does this form do over the existing form, other than lose information? (and I'm not sure what the example component repeats expression - is there a .component missing there?)

The goal is to convey exactly which *pairs* of paths are indexed together as composites.

but the current arrangement does that, but by pairing *search parameters* not just *paths*.
