Can we split the discussion between Mermaid and PlantUML to here?
It's good that we are looking at generated diagrams.

My perspective is that PlantUML is much more mature (and ancient) than mermaid, but requires us to add it to the publisher somehow (I believe we're just waiting for some generous person to help put plantuml on Maven for that).
Mermaid is just javascript, so easier to work with, i guess?
