Topic: IG Publisher Change
Grahame Grieve (Jul 29 2016 at 06:04):
I'm going to make a breaking change to the IG publisher. Can you all make sure that your IG's are fully checked in please
Grahame Grieve (Jul 29 2016 at 06:22):
@ Bryn - I still can't build QI-Core
Grahame Grieve (Jul 29 2016 at 06:22):
same error - missing file _includes.header.html. It's not committed, so I assume you need to commit it
Bryn Rhodes (Jul 29 2016 at 14:07):
Committed.
Grahame Grieve (Jul 29 2016 at 22:27):
all: I am about to commit a change where the IG publisher no longer allows you to accidentally generate the same file more than once. A couple of IGs had problems where different content was being generated to the same file due to reuse of names
Grahame Grieve (Jul 29 2016 at 22:27):
I have fixed all the existing IGs
Grahame Grieve (Jul 30 2016 at 00:08):
note to implementers: at the end of the IG build, you'll see a line in the log like this:
Grahame Grieve (Jul 30 2016 at 00:09):
0 pages invalid xhtml, 49 broken links
Grahame Grieve (Jul 30 2016 at 00:09):
FMG QA criteria will require both those numbers to be 0 for publishing
Grahame Grieve (Jul 30 2016 at 00:10):
note that the 'invalid xhtml' is a requirement that all the produced html pages be well formed XML - that is, elements must be closed. The technical requirements associated with xml (namespace, DTD declaration) do not matter
Grahame Grieve (Jul 30 2016 at 00:24):
A clarification: The implementation guide resource can list one or more generated pages. In the old IG publisher, the IG resource had to list every page. Not now - the IG publisher basically doesn't generate pages (unless you tell it to via templates).
Grahame Grieve (Jul 30 2016 at 00:25):
there is no need to list pages in the Implementation Guide resource *for publishing purposes*
Grahame Grieve (Jul 30 2016 at 00:26):
if you list pages in the Implementation Guide resource, that is for publishing purposes - because it makes sense for a tool that is e.g. validating against the implemnentation guide - to be able to refer the user to the correct page
Grahame Grieve (Jul 30 2016 at 00:26):
e.g. the table of contents
