I'm coming to implement, and running into an information gap in this disposition. It's an invariant... so it should be a warning? a hint? is the invariant informative, or the fact that it's best practice? should it be published on a different page?

Best practices themselves would be informative. They ought to be rendered in a separate section and noted as informative, but they don't necessarily need to be on a separate page. I'd say that best practices would need to be hints.
