I see there are often commits like this just to bump up the dependencies - would it be worthwhile to add https://dependabot.com which does this chore automatically?

It just automatically makes a PR for you so all you do is press merge when dependencies update. Try it, it's kind of neat

It does it per-dependency I think so you have a choice of accepting or rejecting a particular version bump
