This is totally FHIR unrelated (unless you have a FHIR enabled step counting App),
but I don't know of any other channel to reach out to the San Antonio WGM particpants:

During WGMs I try to get a break from sitting around tables all day by taking occational quick walks/hikes in the mornings/evenings/lunch hours. I am currently planning ahead to see what's reasonably possible within distance to the venue and with the available time/daylight.

I was wondering if there are other people interested in such activities. If so, I might consider posting the planned tours with meeting times somewhere at the WGM bulletin boards.

Just show me a hand, if anyone thinks this is a good idea.

See you in San Antonio!

Riverwalk....

Yes. I encourage people to view the wider river-walk that goes for many miles http://www.sanantonioriver.org/images/SARIP-map/SARIP%20Full%20Map-web1.pdf

I am in for walking. Let me know. Riverwalk is wonderful and is almost continuous, not big obstacles or detours

This one also has some good walks: http://meetings.visitsanantonio.com/VisitSanAntonio-Meetings/media/Meetings/PDF-Docs/Runs-Walksl_Downtown_Routes_2011.pdf

Problem is: Theres not much daylight left in the evening: Sun sets at 5:45
Not sure how the lighting is at the riverwalk and in the parks. I should bring my headlamp :)

This looks like it's worth a visit: http://saparksfoundation.org/japanese-tea-garden/
It's free but closing at dusk.
One for the lunch break I guess. Share a cab to get there and then take the 1h walk along the river back to the hotel, maybe?
Tight schedule...

I'm also keen to do plenty of walking in San Antonio, to keep my new Fitbit happy!

Wow. I almost fell for the pittoresque name "Apache Creek Trail".
Thank God for Google Street View.

Anyway, I think I've found some nice places to go. Riverwalk in either direction is always a good choice for lunch break. But there's also some great destinations that require a bit more time and maybe some cab/bus rides, like Brackenridge Park Wilderness Loop, Mission Trail, Elmendorf Lake Park. I guess these are better suited for the evenings, so we don't have to run, to make it back to the Hotel in time. All we have to fear then is darkness ;-)

If you have extra 2-3 days, I would suggest Big Bend National Park. It is about 5-6 hours drive from San Antonio.

For non US citizens, please bring your passport and visa. There are boarder controls around the park.

@Yunwei Wang I wish. But unfortunately not.
But if we decide by the end of San Antonio, that this is a thing, we might make plans for a full day hike following the WGM in Madrid!?
@Rien Wertheim Great! I'm looking forward to seeing you!
