Topic: The great Valentine's Day text fail
Dave deBronkart (Nov 08 2019 at 02:33):
Today I guy from Google who I met at HIMSS in February got a text from me saying that I’d meet him by the bathrooms. He replied "I hope you found a loo, and I hope you're doing well!"
I had sent the text back then, and he just got it today, and didn't notice the date. Then he found this: https://www.theverge.com/2019/11/7/20953422/text-messages-delayed-received-overnight-valentines-day-delay

that's bizarre
Dave deBronkart (Nov 08 2019 at 02:45):
LOL how do you think the Google guy felt when I texted him 9 months later saying I'd meet him near the bathroom? :-)
(Actually he assumed it was a wrong number, until I said "Dude, that was 9 months ago!" Then he noticed the date)
Grahame Grieve (Nov 08 2019 at 02:49):
I imagine there were some deeply upset people

Not nice at all...
Michel Rutten (Nov 08 2019 at 11:58):
Classic. Texting does not guarantee timely delivery. Usually, a text message arrives immediately. However sometimes, a message gets stuck in the server queue to be delivered after some months.

yup.... doing a "pcomms" module/system atm (started as patient comms but it's been broadened to person (excluding clinicians....) ) which is email, mobile, text to voice & sms & basically all are indeterminate wrt delivery
