Topic: TEFCA vs ONC final rule

‘Slightly’ outside FHIR dev ~ Can someone kindly share the difference between these 2? I’m inclined to think the ONC final rule is mandatory regulation (when finalized) and tefca is a collab set up by the govt as a community organization designed to implement voluntary interoperability standards that will surround the requirements set forth in the final rule?

TEFCA is a network for document interchange that reduces the number of connections needed to be made. In effect you connect once, and send out a request to the entire network for information. The ONC Final rule is a set of regulations (that are final) that mandate things like FHIR use of R4 and prevention of blocking exchange of data.
