It's nowhere near as bad as we thought, @Josh Mandel . There's a hardware option, too - you can plug a wireless dongle into your computer that transmits to the projector.

We use these at our company and they work pretty well. Another option (maybe) is if the projector or big-screen TV supports Apple's AirPlay or if it supports the Miracast protocol you might be able to wirelessly send your device's screen to it.
