Topic: Not THAT "final rule"....!
Dave deBronkart (Jun 26 2020 at 13:44):
Hey, where's a good lay overview of the March 9 Final Rule? For the life of me I can't find one that means anything to non-health-IT geeks!
I googled and found this, which was QUITE unexpected :-)

I'm assuming you mean the 21st Century Cures rule. There's a website for that at www.healthit.gov/curesrule.
Dave deBronkart (Jun 26 2020 at 21:43):
I know about that site of course. I seek a description for normals, i.e. people who aren't like us.
David Pyke (Jun 27 2020 at 14:08):
There's little in the rule for normal people. What type of info are you looking for?
Dave deBronkart (Jun 27 2020 at 18:29):
LOL circular something or other ... it has seemed to me that the general public ought to start awakening to what will be new possibilities to do useful things they either never thought of, or tried long ago and gave up. :-) I'm looking for a description in their terms. Maybe I need to draft it myself and have you smart people correct my errors and fine points.

I think the CMS Rule better fits what you need. Having the public know that their Payer is opening up their data within the next year is something they can fight to hold them to.
David Pyke (Jun 27 2020 at 20:34):
Here's the fact sheet for that one, you can take it and massage it a bit for the public: https://www.cms.gov/newsroom/fact-sheets/interoperability-and-patient-access-fact-sheet
