Does FHIR, as mandated in the newly released US Final Rules, pretty much what I was dreaming about when I wrote this? bit.ly/healthspigot Special pings to @Grahame Grieve and @Keith Boone but of course anyone's welcome.

Bonus: answer in the next 15 minutes and I'll mention you in my HealthDevJam talk a half hour from now. :-) (Rucker is speaking now)

I would say that your article certainly aligns well with FHIR. It aligns well with predicate standards as well, like CDA and XDS. The big change is not that FHIR exists, but that the FHIR community has done more than just create a standard. They have created open-source reference implementations, applications, toolkits (HAPI), sandboxes, test tools, hackathons, and excitement. It is this community that has done more than purely FHIR existing.

Thanks, both. The huge difference from the consumer POV seems to be that while specs have existed, the new policies ("Thou SHALT use FHIR R4") will make it a reality, over a period of time - yes?

and shoot, too many things went wrong and I didn't get back here to collect your names. But I'll blog it when the replay is out, over the weekend, and toot this horn in happiness.
