My room was 78F (25.5 C) on check-in. Thank goodness they didn't put me in one of the 'hot' rooms...

@Jenni Syed , no... I set mine to 69F the other day. After the cleaning staff came through, they turned it down to 65F. It was an ice-box in my room!

It took mine 24 hours to drop 6 F and never dropped further than 70 F

Apparently that's because all the rooms around you are 65 and stealing all the energy (unless you're surrounded by rooms that have the AC completely off, which could also be an issue)

Add some sand to your room, and beach white noise. Maybe add a hammock, and a fan for a bit of a breeze. It's a vacation!
