Their February article on hand washing has useful details I hadn't seen elsewhere, including the news (to me) that hand sanitizers like Purell are distinctly less effective than hand washing with soap (but better than nothing, of course).


What nobody talks about is the practical difficulty of standing there washing for a full 20 seconds as recommended (often described as "sing Happy Birthday twice through"). Hm, an intervention that's effective but requires patience and a habit change... sounds like a practical challenge, so it's worth reminding each other. So here we are...

A co-worker shared with me the guidance she was given on hand-washing: Wash your hands like you just diced a jalapeno and now you have to put your contacts in.
