Topic: Carequality & TEFCA
Noam Kurtis (Mar 03 2021 at 23:23):
How do these two differ from one another? I understand that TEFCA incubated Carequality and released Carequality to its own governing body.. however as far as networks go, are they both networks? Or is TEFCA the vision from which Carequality was formed?
Brendan Keeler (Mar 04 2021 at 06:36):
Carequality predates TEFCA by several years. TEFCA is in its infancy but the Sequoia Project is the recognized coordinating entity with Carequality as a sort of subrecipient.
Brendan Keeler (Mar 04 2021 at 06:37):
With the new administration, it will be interesting to see if TEFCA is finalized and if so, what it looks like in that finalized form
Brendan Keeler (Mar 04 2021 at 06:38):
For the time being, Carequality is the dominant trust framework for organization to organization exchange
Noam Kurtis (Mar 04 2021 at 11:05):
Oops, slight typo above, thanks for clarifying. I meant to say sequoia (not Tefca) incubated Carequality. Is that correct? Also. do Tefca and Carequality implement similar capabilities or are they complementary?
Noam Kurtis (Mar 04 2021 at 11:15):
Also it helps in understanding that Carequality predates TEFCA, thank you.
David Pyke (Mar 04 2021 at 13:49):
TEFCA and Carequality are very different designs. Carequality is a point-to-point trust framework with a directory. TEFCA is a muti hop network with overarching trust framework. Both are run by Sequoia
David Pyke (Mar 04 2021 at 13:49):
TEFCA isn't active, the design of the Common Agreement and the Technical Framework should be out for comment in the next couple months
Noam Kurtis (Mar 04 2021 at 16:04):
Thanks David
