Yeah. In Skype, up arrow edits last post, or context-click/tap to edit older posts.

Well, there is a useful function of editing messages -- updating the topic :)

Yeah. And you can edit topics of someone else's message even, to curate the stream.

This is based on the internal (terminal based, back in the day) IM system at MIT.
