In the 1.0 spec, what's the purpose of hookInstance? It doesn't appear to be described in the response to calling a service.

Great question! There was some early usage related to capturing decisions that has moved towards the alternative of SMART web messaging. As for now, it's a formal id that can be used to correlate logs/auditing/metrics across CDS Clients and Services, but as a stateless API there isn't anything else formally defined
