Lloyd McKenzie (Jun 30 2020 at 15:38):
Any major EHR vendors yet?

@Jenni Syed @Isaac Vetter @Jeffrey Danford ?
Jenni Syed (Jul 08 2020 at 14:11):
We don't have it in production yet
Bryn Rhodes (Jul 08 2020 at 22:30):
I believe Isaac is on a well deserved vacation so I'll answer in his stead, but I know that Epic has it in production, we are already working with pilot implementations at multiple sites that have it deployed and configured.
Lisa Nelson (Aug 06 2020 at 11:57):
@Bryn Rhodes Can you say more about which hook events are supported by Epic and what use cases are being addressed in the deployed implementations?
Isaac Vetter (Aug 07 2020 at 15:49):
Hey @Lisa Nelson , Lloyd, guys,
Apologies for the delayed response (and thanks for chiming in, Bryn!). Here's the publicly available description of our CDS Hooks support posted on open.epic.com.
You can find it linked from this page (click the "read the spec" link): https://open.epic.com/Interface/FHIR. You do need to log in with (about) any OpenID provider (e.g. your gmail account).
Lloyd McKenzie (Aug 07 2020 at 16:05):
Hi @Isaac Vetter To confirm, the only hook currently supported is patient-view - is that accurate? (The list of supported hooks doesn't exactly jump out of that document :) )
Isaac Vetter (Aug 07 2020 at 19:10):
yes
Lloyd McKenzie (Aug 07 2020 at 22:27):
Is there a policy to only roll out hooks that have passed ballot, or is it just that you haven't gotten to the others yet?
Brendan Keeler (Aug 12 2020 at 00:00):
Very cool. @Isaac Vetter, is that part of App Orchard? I had thought the CDS support was within AO (but maybe that was the legacy CDS support?)

I wouldn't say there is a clear policy at this point. However, maturity level is something that will likely factor into hook implementation decision because there is less argument to justify an immature hook, and an immature hook has higher potential for breaking changes etc. Essentially, the hook maturity model is a proxy for how necessary and useful a hook is as well as how clearly the use-cases are understood.
